The Love Story

John and Ellice first met as teenagers, shooting the same wedding for a photography studio in Southern California, he was 18, and she was 19. Ellice wasn’t impressed at first, John was her competition, and a little too confident for her taste. But over time, his goofy charm, and kind heart won her over. They eventually became friends, each carving out their own creative paths and launching successful studios.

Years later, when they both happened to be single in their mid-20s, they reconnected and something shifted. They started dating, and within just a few weeks, they booked a trip to Thailand six months out, certain they’d still be together. When you know, you know. And for them, that was the beginning of a great adventure.

This is where their photography stories began...

John fell in love with photography at just ten years old, after saving up $100 to buy his first camera. From documenting camping trips to shooting high-end weddings in Los Angeles straight out of high school, his journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to his craft. His style is calculated, consistent, and technically refined, sharpened by years of experience and an insatiable curiosity about the world.

Photography also sparked his love for travel. From backpacking across Europe at 19 to teaching English in Cambodia and capturing life in the far corners of the globe, his camera has been a passport to incredible experiences.

Ellice discovered her passion for photography as a teenager and was already managing shoots by the age of 16. She began her career at a portrait studio before earning a place at one of Southern California’s top wedding studios, becoming their first and only female photographer.

Known for her spontaneity and emotional storytelling, Ellice brings a heartfelt, intuitive approach to her work. Her goal is always to connect deeply with her clients, understand their vision, and reflect their personalities with honesty and beauty.

The Proposal

One of the most unforgettable chapters in their journey came during a trip through South America. Johnny had planned to propose at the top of Machu Picchu, but the day before, all of their camera gear, and the engagement ring, were stolen! Undeterred, John got down on one knee the next day, with nothing but a string. He tied the string around Ellice’s finger and said, “We make such a good team,” through his tears. Although he didn't officially get the question out, Ellice said Yes! A year later they exchanged vows in Marrakech, Morocco.

The Wedding

After photographing events all over the world, Johnny and Ellice knew they had to choose somewhere truly unique for their own wedding, somewhere they had never been. Marrakech, Morocco, was vibrant, mysterious, and incredibly photogenic. They invited ten of their closest friends and exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony that was truly unforgettable. The entire experience was filmed and later turned into a full-length motion picture so friends and family back home could share in the magic. After the wedding, everyone set off on their own adventures across Africa and Europe. This epic experience set the tone for the life they’ve built together, one that is bold and beautiful, full of love, spontaneity, and stories worth telling.

The Baby

Their most meaningful adventure began in October 2014 with the birth of their daughter, Joey. She joined their team instantly, and by four months old, she already had a stamp in her passport. They’ve loved watching that number grow right alongside her. Joey is their most treasured gift, and the heart of everything they do. Amid all the travel and storytelling, it’s the quiet, everyday moments with her that bring the deepest joy.

The Move

In 2021, after years working in Southern California where they were both born and raised, Johnny and Ellice found their dream home tucked away in the woods outside Atlanta, Georgia. It was the kind of place that felt like it had been waiting for them, quiet, grounding, and surrounded by nature. Over the past few years, they’ve been lovingly renovating it into a sanctuary where creativity flows and life slows down just enough to be fully savored. Their daughter Joey is thriving, and they feel deeply grateful to be surrounded by a strong community of family. While they continue to travel the world for work and inspiration, they frequently return to California for projects and to visit friends and family. They have also embraced new opportunities on the East Coast, where many more beautiful stories are waiting to be told through their imagery.
